Create a Realistic Embossed Leather Text Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial for beginners you will learn how to create a realistic embossed leather text effect in Photoshop. All you need is:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • A picture of leather background

01. Open a picture of leather background of any color. Take the Type tool and type in your word. In this tutorial we use the font Forte, but if you are planning to use some other font, keep in mind to choose a bit bolder one.

02. Now go to Layer > Layer Styles > Blending Options and set the Fill Opacity to 0%. Then move to the Color Overlay tab anf there set the color white to 15%. Don’t press Ok yet.

03. Move to Stroke tab and add a gradient stroke around the text.

04. Set a strong black shadow under the Drop Shadow tab.

05. Set a very small and transparent outer glow.

06. And the last step is to play around with Bevel and Emboss tab. Here you have many options. Many of them depend on how big your letters are, so instead of exactly following the numbers below, try to follow the effect look instead. If you have satisfactory results, press Ok.
